What is this FAQ for?
Based on
information requested by
customers, this FAQ is designed
to cover issues relating to the ELO Serial
Touch screen attached to Vibrant VL5A9RN
(15") and VL7E9RG (17") monitors.
If you are using this FAQ for the first
time, it is suggested that you follow through
the items below in the order they are written,
more experienced users can click on the
links below to jump directly to the appropriate
areas of interest.

Answers
1.01 How do
I connect my touch screen to my PC.
Carefully connect the Touch Screen 9
pin D-type connector ( shown circled below
) to COM1 or COM2 on your PC. Ensure that
your touch screen is properly connected
as listed in the instruction manual that
came with your monitor. Also check that
the monitor image is correctly centered
and aligned before installing the ELO Accutouch
software.
1.02. How do I install the touch screen
software.
The example installation guide shown
below is for WIndows 2000 however the same
principles apply for different versions
of Windows O/S however some screens may
vary slightly.
Insert the ELO
Touch ToolsCD into the your CDROM,
the CDROM should automatically run ( depending
on the settings for your CDROM drive), if
it does not, navigate to D:\autorun.exe
where "D" is the letter or equivalant
for your CDROM drive. Double click EloCD.exe
to begin the installation. At the menu screen
below, select Install
Driver For This Computer as shown
below...

The
installation process will now begin. As
your touch screen is a serial 5 wire resistive
type. select Install
Serial Touchscreen Drivers and
click Next
to continue.

If you wish to contine to the installation,
click Yes to
accept the license terms and conditions.

The installation software
will now check your PC for unused serial
ports as below...

Select Auto-Detect
ELO devices, this will enable
the installation software to automatically
detect the touch screen controller inside
you monitor. Click Next
to continue.

If you connected your 9 pin D-Type serial
lead to COM1, select COM1 as shown below,
otherwise select an alternative COM port.
Click Next
to continue.

The installation software will display the
screen below confirming your COM port selection.
Click Next
to continue.

The installation software will now install
the appropriate drivers as shown below...
It is strongly recommended that you calibrate
your touch screen for optimal accuracy.
Select Calibrate
Elo Touchscreen monitors. to
activate the calibration routine. Select
Finish
to complete the installation.

The
calibration software will place 4 targets
in the corners of the screen starting with
the top left hand side. Touch the targets
with your finger as they appear, when you
lift off your finger from the screeen, the
next target will appear.

When
all four targets have been selected the
confirmation screen below will appear. To
check the accuracy of the calibration, touch
the screen at points around the screen and
note if the cursor appears under your finger.
If you are happy with the calibration accuracy,
touch the green tick mark circled below.
If you wish repeat the calibration exercise
click or touch the blue arrow.

Congratulations, you have now installed
and calibrated your touch screen. Click
Click or Touch Exit
to close the touch screen intallation software.

1.03. How do I callibrate
the touchscreen.
To begin the calibration process...
Select Start Menu/Settings/Control
Panel/as shown below. Click or
touch the ELO Touchscreen icon to acivate
the calibration software.
The
ELO Touchscreen properties options screen
will appear. On the General tab click or
touch the calibration button shown circled
below.

The calibration software will place 4 targets
in the corners of the screen starting with
the top left hand side. Touch the targets
with your finger as they appear, when you
lift off your finger the next target will
appear.

When all four targets have been selected
the confirmation screen below will appear.
To check the accuracy of the calibration,
touch the screen at points around the screen
and note if the cursor appears under your
finger. If you are happy with the calibration
accuracy, touch the green Tick mark circled
below. If you wish repeat the calibration
exercise, touch or click the blue arrow.
If
you are happy with the calibration of your
monitor click or touch
OK to exit the calibration software.
1.04. My touch
screen doesn't work correctly.
Connections.
Ensure that the 9 pin D-type serial connector
is securely connected to your monitor and
COM1 or COM2 of your PC.
Select
Start Menu/Settings/Control
Panel/ and click on the ELOTouchscreen
icon to bring up the ELO Touch screen properties
option. Select the
Properties 1 tab to confirm if
your touch screen has been detected.
If the ELO Software has detected your touch
screen monitor, a green tick will appear
next to the Touchscreen type and the controller
status will be listed as Working properly.
Ensure that Disable Touch is unticked.
If a red cross appears, and Touch Screen
type is listed as Not Available,
check...
a)
The 9 pin serial D-type lead supplied with
your monitor is connected properly to both
your monitor and your PC
b)
The 9 pin serial D-type lead supplied with
your monitor is connected to the correct
COM port on your PC.

ELO
Software.
To successfully install the ELO Touchtools
drivers on a Windows 2000 or XP machine,
please ensure your are logged on the ADMINISTRATOR
or have administrator privileges with your
current login.
Calibration
Errors.
For calibrations
errors, follow the calibration procedure
detailed in 1.03.
If
all fails !
If the touch screen
still fails to work, try connecting it to
a different PC with a basic set-up and a
different O/S.
