Answers
1.01. How do I extract the Zipped driver
files
The
example below is for Windows XP Professional
but will be similar for other Windows operating
systems.
Download
and copy the drivers into a folder on your
PC. In this instance the folder is C:\Axiohm\Win2000_XP
Double
click on the Zip file
74 00 032 Z Minidriver TELESTO.ZIP

Double
click on
Extract all files

Click NEXT
to continue the Extraction Wizard
In the directory box type in the directory
where the files will be extracted to. In
this case.. C:\Axiohm.
Then click Next
to continue the extraction process
The
extraction process will begin, click Next
to continue after the files have
been extracted.

Ensure that the Show
extracted files box is ticked and
click on Finish
to end the Extraction Wizard.

1.02. How do I install the Windows drivers
Once
the drivers have been unzipped ( section
1.01) it is possible to begin the driver
installation process.
Click
on the Start Menu,
then Printers and
Faxes.

In the Printer Tasks
options, click on Add
a printer.
The
Add Printer Wizard
will begin. Click on Next
to continue...

Ensure that the option
Local printer attached
to this computer is ticked.
Ensure that Automatically detect and
install my Plug and Play printer is
not ticked.
Click on Next
to continue.

At this point you will
need to decide which COM port to install
your serial printer to. Use the drop down
menu below to select your serial printer
port. In this case the printer will be installed
on COM1. Click on Next
to Continue.

Now
you will need to direct the Add Printer
Wizard to the directory where the drivers
are located. Click on Have
Disk.

Click
on Browse so
we can point to the Axiohm driver directory.

Browse
to the C:\Axiohm directory
where the infomation file Axiohm
Telesto Printer W2K.INF file is located.
Then click on Open
to continue. Note:
this driver is alo suitable for Windows
XP.

Click
on OK to confirm
the location of the directory where the
Printer INF file is located.

At the point you need
to decide on the paper size and if you want
a full or part cut of the receipt after
the invoice has been printed. The paper
supplied with your printer is 80mm wide
so in the example below, Telesto 80 ( 80mm
) with a partial cut of the paper has been
selected. Click
on Next to
continue.

Confirm
the Printer Name then select Next
to continue.

Select
No to the option
Do you want to print a test page.

Click on Finish
to complete the Add Printer Wizard.
If you
are happy that installing the software will
not affect your computer, click on Continue
Anyway otherwise click on STOP installation
to abort the installation.

Drivers
will now be installed, no action required.
Should
you receive this message, ensure that the
Copy Files From directory is C:\Axiohm
and click on OK
to continue.
Should
you receive this message, ensure that the
Copy Files From directory is C:\Axiohm
and click on OK
to continue.
A
test page may be sent to the printer however
it will not appear as the printer will need
configuring before a printout is obtained.
Click on OK to complete the Add Printer
Wizard.

Telesto
serial printer drivers are now installed,
this section is completed !
1.03. How
do I configure the serial printer settings
Click
on the Start Menu
button, then click on Printers
and Faxes

Right
click on the Telesto 80 printer icon and
select Properties.

Select
the Ports tab.

If
you connected your Printer to the COM1 serial
port, select COM1
as shown below, otherwise select the appropriate
serial port. Next select the
Configure Port button.

The
default setting of your Telesto printer
is...
Interface:
RS232
Baud rate: 115,200
Parity: No
parity
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Flow
control: Dtr/Dsr
Ensure that Bits per second is set to 115200
and that Flow Control is set to Hardware.
These two points are critical for correct
operation.

Return
to the General tab,
Click on the Print
Test Page button. Check the printout
is clear and there is no garbled characters.
Once
the serial port is configured correctly
the following test page will appear after
a few seconds.

1.04 How do I install the USB
driver
The
example below is for Windows XP Professional
but will be similar for other Windows operating
systems.
Follow
the procedure listed in 1.01. to download
and extract the zipped Telesto printer drivers
to your hard drive.
***
Ensure the power to the Telesto printer
is ON and connect the USB cable to the printer
and your PC. ***
Windows
will automatically detect that the Telesto
printer ( New Hardware ) is conected and
install the appropriate software for the
printer. You will receive a message as below.
When
the drivers have been installed you will
receive a message reporting that your new
hardware is ready for use.
Then
click on the Start
Menu, then Printers
and Faxes.

In
the Printer Tasks
options, click on Add
a printer.

The
Add Printer Wizard
will begin. Click on Next
to continue...

Ensure
that the option Local
printer attached to this computer
is ticked.
Ensure that Automatically detect and
install my Plug and Play printer is
not ticked.
Click on Next
to continue.

In the drop down port
menu, select USB001
(Virtual printer port for USB).
Note: You will not see this device listed
if Windows has not previously detected the
printer and installed the hardware.

Now
you will need to direct the Add Printer
Wizard to the directory where the drivers
are located. Click on Have
Disk.

Click
on Browse so
we can point to the Axiohm driver directory.

Browse
to the C:\Axiohm directory
where the infomation file Axiohm
Telesto Printer W2K.INF file is located.
Then click on Open
to continue. Note:
this driver is alo suitable for Windows
XP.

Click
on OK to confirm
the location of the directory where the
Printer INF file is located.

Confirm
the Printer Name then select Next
to continue.

Select
No to the option
Do you want to print a test page.
Click
on Finish to
complete the Add Printer Wizard.

If
you are happy that installing the software
will not affect your computer, click on
Continue Anyway
otherwise click on STOP installation to
abort the installation.

Drivers
will now be installed, no action required.

Should
you receive this message, ensure that the
Copy Files From directory is C:\Axiohm
and click on OK
to continue.

After
the files have been installed, the Completing
the Add Printer Wizard Screen will appear
momentarily and then disappear automatically.

Telesto USB printer drivers
are now installed, this section is completed
!
1.05. How do I configure the USB printer
settings.
Click
on the Start Menu
button, then click on Printers
and Faxes

Right
click on the Telesto 80 printer icon and
select Properties.


Check
that USB Virtual Printer
Port for USB is selected.

Return
to the General Tab
and select Print
Test Page. A test printout should
be printed almost immediately.

Shown below is the USB
Test Page printout.

1.06. How do I check the
settings of my printer
Printing a Self
Test Ticket will detail the configuration
of the printer such as .... Firmware version,
Hardware details, Mechanism detail, Communication
Interface settings i.e. Interface type,
baud rate, handshaking, flow control.
To print self ticket.
- open the lid
- push the paper feed button until the light
turns off (approx 10s).
- when the light is off, immediately close
the lid keeping the paper feed button pressed.
1.07. How do I change the Baud rate of
my printer
The default settings of the printer are...
Interface: RS232
Baud rate: 115,200
Parity: No
parity
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Flow Control:Dtr/Dsr
Changing the Baud Rate involves sending
the correct communication parameters to
NVRAM memory within the printer.

Example
software to change the Baud rate
To change the Baud rate from 115,200 to
9,600 download 115200_9600.zip
To change the Baud rate from 9,600 to 115,200
download 9600_115200.zip
Unzip the appropriate file into the the
root directory c:\
Exit any communication programs such as
Hyperterminal.
Ensure serial cable is connected.
Reset printer by removing and restoring
power.
Ensure blue light is ON and not flashing.
To change the Baud rate from 115,200 to
9,600 run 9600.bat
To change the Baud rate from 9,600 to 115,200
run 115200.bat
1.08. My printer
won't print.

Paper Jam and Cutter Problems
| Problem |
Solution |
| Paper
Jam
Cutter Blade not in correct position)
Possible causes are...
Paper used too thick or
Foreign object in mechanism.
|
In
case of a paper jam, remove the front
cover by sliding foward and upwards.

If paper is found in the area shown,
remove it.
If paper is found in the area shown,
remove it.
Next, check that the cutter blade
is in the correct position (parked
in left side of printer). If the cutter
blade is not correctly parked, switch
off the printer then power on again.
If the cutter blade remains in the
same position, use the mini-screwdriver
(supplied in the box) to reposition
the cutter. Inser the mini-screwdriver
through the small hole in the side
of the printer (shown circled above).
Rotate the screwdriver forwards to
move the blade to the left. |
| The
ticker it out of the printer but the
cutter does not cut. |
Check
the user manual to ensure that the correct
cutter commands are used.

Cleaning your printer.
Depending on the environment in which
your printer is used, it can accumulate
dust. Therefore it is necessary to clean
the print head periodically to maintain
good print quality. The cleaning period
depeneds on the environment and usage.,
but the print head should be cleaned at
least once a year or up to one month for
heavy duty applications.
Cleaning Instructions
Unplug the printer.
Never clean the print head immediately after
printing, the head may be hot.
Open the cover, clean the heating dots line
of the head with a cotton stick containing
a solvent alcohol (ethanol, methanol, or
IPA) but do not touch the print head
with your fingers.
Allow the solvent to dry and replace the
cover.

Right click on Telesto
Printer icon and select Properties.
Select the Ports
tab, click on the Configure

1.10. What
are the RS232 connections
Shown below is the Cable for DTR/DSR
protocol. Connector on printer is male type.
This RS232 interface normally require a
cable with two female 9-pin D-type connectors.

are the cash drawer connections
Cash drawer connections are as follows...
Driving voltage: 24VDC
Driving current: Approx 1A max ( shall not
excedd 510ms)
